i just dont have a mouse so i cant really eat, but i would appreciate if it was possible to change the controls, like for example, if i change the mouse for E  like Eat, i dont think it's possible though, but maybe you could try.

I will be adding support for changing the keybindings in the future. The game also has controller support as an alternative in the meantime if you have one. :)

I do have a controller, but the eat button doesn't work sometimes, I keep pressing the A aggressively to eat or I just hold it, but even if I hold it, it wont work, thank god this happens sometimes and not always though. if you can fix this i will be forever grateful because this game is great! :D

The new update should solve the issue causing your eat button to not always work correctly. :)
No update yet on Rebinding controls, but it is on my to-do list.

Does it not have wings yet or is there something I'm missing (because I saw air speed in the speed thingy but I couldn't find anything that actually gave you air speed)

(+1)

You're correct, Wing and hand parts on not in-game yet. :)

(+1)

Dang it

Is there anything to do other than eating flowers and genociding other species.

How do I lay an egg?

I'd recommend coming to the Discord community. :) https://discord.gg/AWuC5W5mKp

this game was incredibly laggy and i couldn't buy any of the extra limbs horns etc, and i had all the graphics settings on low, i am very disapointed i really was looking forward to this

Would you be willing to share your system specs? I'm always looking for ways to further optimize.

doing great, though it appears some mutations have no attributes yet. fur and other new body mutations for example.

and nectivores seem a little broken since the babies refuse to eat. other than that, it can run better on my bad pc and I'm happy about it.

I'm glad to see what's coming up next update!

The game is alright its like spore creature stage, but the optimalization is nuts. dosent exist. My pc has 4 gb of ram and 2 CPU with 1,5 Ghz.

And no person on earth will tell me that my pc with 4 Gb of ram 2 Cpu and a pretty good graphics card cant run a game with minimum 2 gb ram.

Cult of the lamb and Thrive have bigger requirements and they run stable 60 fps. if your realising a demo for your game for low end pc then make it atleast playble.

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with lag. Have you tried reducing your video settings? Lowering the Grass Density, Draw Distance, Shadows, and Water Quality settings can all have major impact on performance.

Additionally, Adapt is not optimized for on-board GPUs. So you will likely see graphics latency if you're using a laptop with and Intel onboard or other similar GPU.

Thanks for your feedback, and I'll be sure to double check the game's min system requirements to make sure they are accurate.

Overall - 4.5 Star game

Problem is only with tutorial and Controls

Thanks for your feedback! And thanks for playing. :D

a great game, good customization, and fun to mess around with. but the controls appear to not want to work for me, especially the mouse controls, and sometimes I get stuck locked on to another creature. also a little laggy.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm working on some fixes now for a few controls that can get stuck as you mentioned.
As for lag, make sure to check your graphics settings if you're on a laptop / non-gaming machine. Shadows, draw distance, grass, and water quality can all be a bit much for less fancy graphics cards.

yeah, tried some of the graphics options, it at least runs on my crappy old pc.

might as well put some form of ideas here as well.

spitting venom: blinds creatures, spitting cobras spit their venom as a self defense mechanism and aim at the eyes, permanently blinding if it actually hits the eyes.

though this might be far ahead of an idea. wing shapes effecting flight: it would be interesting to have to edit the shape of the wings for an efficient flying creature.

bioluminescence: while this could be used for other things, maybe it could work as a lure, or even a built-in flashlight.

fur/scales: while fur would allow better insulation and the ability to look bigger, scales would increase over all defense and durability.

ectothermy and endothermy: ectotherms have a slower metabolism and overheat less easily, while endotherms are better at surviving in cold areas.

these are just ideas, but  hey, would be cool to see some of them.

take it easy, don't over-work yourself, and try not to put out release dates and rush yourself super early!

Thanks for your thoughts. It's awesome to see you're excited for the game, even if you're having some optimization issues. I hope you'll be happy I'm working on some additions that are very closely in-line with some of your ideas. :D

bug: giant nest that dwarf godzilla

Haha. Thanks for reporting this!

(+1)

here are some cool ideas I have:

stomp: only available if you have four legs and it deals damage based on your size

arms: lets you snatch stuff

herds: massive groups of ai animals or your species ranging from 10 animals to 100

game crashed when I fought another creature, love the concept but the controls to move around when placing a nest are also pretty wacky. Can't wait to see the progress though.

Thanks for your feedback!

BUG: complete darkness

wait its underground

question:

will there be flying or full aquatics?

the art shows a shawdow on the ground and a fishy boi in the sea

(2 edits)

Yes, both flight and Aquatic eggs / vivipary are planned

If you're interested, you can check out the Adapt Roadmap :)

thank you sir! I got the demo on steam to check it out and was intrested in the project, I hope I will have enough money to purchase it!

also how big can an animal be, like the size of the big trees?

At the moment, the largest animals are approximately the size of the more medium size trees, but not as large as very tallest trees

(1 edit)

ok

what version is more developed itch or steam

also is there full aqua eggs and live birth in demo?

Reproduction in the demo is restricted to terrestrial nests.

(+2)

Its Gonna be great when i  saw blitz did it

:D

Thank you thank you thank you for going with the good part of spore. <3

How do I help, this is a dream game honestly and I'd like to help it along anyway I can.

Just spread the word :) the biggest push right now is for visibility

if the full game comes out and i dont have enough money to buy it i will have the zip file for the demo

Will there be any potential detail options/extra coloring abilities?

Possibly. There are no confirmed plans at the moment, but I would like to do some prototyping down the line for more coloring options

like shapeshifting?

Is Adapt going to be available on other platforms or is Steam it?

Initially through Steam. but I'm exploring other PC platforms, as well as Switch porting.

Well the game looks fun but I never buy from Steam.  I but from GOG, Itch.io and Humble Bundle when there is no DRM attached.  Good luck with sales.

(+1)

Adapt will also be available on Itch again. Orders are only disabled temporarily.

hey do you still exist?

Yes! Still hard at work. :D

yay its just you seemed not to be o at the time

may be digging just a sugestion

Digging is planned. Come check out the Adapt Roadmap.

(+1)

kinda like spore

how do i breed?

(+1)

Before mating, you'll need to increase your relationship with another animal of your species. then you should be given the option to court.

The next update will also feature some improvements to simplify this system. :)

(1 edit)

thanks and also i love the game your making and when will flight be added

Flight wont be for a little while, but it is coming! Here's a link to the Adapt Phase 1 Roadmap, if you'd like to check it out. :)

Can you please create mobile version of this game

(+1)

Sadly due to the game's overhead and scope, there will be no mobile version. Though I do hope to port to Switch eventually.

I do know a game like this called the sapling but this game looks a lot more fun than the sapling

I can't play your game. Because todos load it  I need steam  but I don't have steam there is no problem with your game.

You should be able to download and play right through itch even without Steam. :)

The game doesn't require Steam to load as long as it's downloaded from itch and not Steam.

yay it's good to know it is possible but does cost money

Nope, you can download and play the demo here completely free, and without Steam. :)

great

thx

You are making my dreams come true.

i cant wait to playyour game it sounds so cool

I played my first two games and it was good, after i created a third creature i hit the play button, but the loading took a lot of time and the game did not open, i left it for 15 minutes and still the game did not start, how can i solve this issue?

btw your game is very beautiful and has a bright future in my view.

Thanks for the report! This is a bug causing the map generator to sometimes get stuck.  It should be fixed in the current build. Just update and play! :D

i reinstalled the game and it worked, yet i should reinstall the game every 10 minutes to ensure it works.

however this does not annoy me that bad, I am looking forward for the full game release, the game has a good idea, and the demo shows that the idea is developed by a fantastic developer, continue your work, I am sure this game will rise in the full release.

Thanks very much! I will do my best :D

The bug should be fixed though in this hotfix update, so you shouldn't have to restart, reinstall or update anymore to prevent encountering this issue.

Now the game is working for few games without the need of reinstalling, I think it's finally solved.

(1 edit)

please help i downloaded this on pc and its just files (im new to itch.io) does the files need to be opened in somekind of app?

You will need to unzip the files. You can do this using a number of free zip applications (winRAR, 7Zip, WinZip, etc...)

Here is a link to download 7Zip (The application I typically use). :) Just select your operating system from the list of download links and install:

https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

(+1)

You could also use the itch.io downloadable app on PC

i am trying to download but its not working

Are you still unable to download? What platform and OS are you using?

i am on pc,a dell inspiron

(+1)

imma try again now to see if it works no

it finaly worke

dammit

it keeps deleting itself for no reason

If my pc can handle spore no problem, then should it be able to run this game? Because it lags sooo hard I cant play the game.

There are a lot of technologies used in Adapt which were not present in spore, from grass, lighting, water, physics, etc... So there are definitely higher base-line hardware requirements than spore.

That said, the game is still very much in-development, and a major point of focus moving forward is to include more low-end settings options, in addition to many general optimization improvements.

(+1)

My pc isn't the best, so I am sure that that's the problem. I hope it comes out on console cause I have an xbox one , I think it should handle the game pretty well. Btw from what I have seen, this game of yours is mechanically much better than spore :)

Optimising your PC might be a good option. I got mine to run half life alyx by updating my drivers, defragmenting my C: drive, and other stuff, but those 2 are the biggest things you can do to make games run better.

As a spore fan, thanks for this !
Here's my first thoughts / feedback after playing a little bit :

In the editor when moving a creature's legs the body start moving to in a weird way which to me makes it a little hard to place the legs correctly

Also it would be nice if we could just close the load / save a creature panel by pressing escape instead of having to click on the button again.

Same thing for that little help menu on the editor, maybe I'm dumb but for my first two games I just didn't understand that the little "i" button was tied to that information. Since it's next to the name I was assuming it had something to do with that, maybe moving it somewhere else on the screen would make it clearer ?

One other thing is the little "i" button that you have to click to get info about what advantages each part give, I think that could be simplified by just showing the same text when the user hovers long enough on the icon. I feel like having to hover, then click on the "i" to open and then click again to hide the info is more than necessary.

Also I don't have the best computer but even with everything set to low I was always under 30 fps.

It was not really clear what I was supposed to do when starting to play and the creature moves in a weird way sometimes.

Lastly the whole "observe" thing is a little unclear to me. Is it just a way to focus the camera on something or does it have more interest than that ? If it's just a camera thing maybe renaming it "focus" / "look at" or something like that would avoid confusion.

Other than that I loved everything I saw ! Music is lovely too.

Thanks for this lovely project and good luck !

(+1)

Thanks so much for playing, and double for the excellent feedback. I've added all of your suggestions to my review checklist to take a look at :)
