Patch Notes - version 0.45a

Warning: Due to changes in the body rigging code, your saved animals will likely have some parts incorrectly placed or aligned, as well as colors reset to black. I’ve prevented the need to wipe saved species, but with this minor error as a result.

Features

  • Hives now interactable (Insect Food)
  • New Investigate (Animals) action when in Alert mood
  • Reworked Health, Stamina and Stomach stat bar system and UI
  • Animal groups now spawn occasionally if populations are too low
  • Moved SaveData directory to */Documents/My Games/Adapt


    • This change is intended to simplify locating your species data
    • Updating will reset settings due to save data location migration

Gameplay

  • Improved player detection of distant broadcasting animals
  • Slightly lowered Stamina cost while sprinting
  • Increased character responsiveness when turning
  • Dampened character over-turn at low velocity
  • Improved group member follow behaviors
  • Improvements to gifting behaviors
  • Gifting (Food) social reward now scales with recipient’s hunger

  • Cleanup to adaptation purchasing
  • Major Editor back-end overhaul
  • Added Undo + Redo UI buttons
  • New Antler Part
  • New Horn Part
  • Removed Base-Pair EvoPoint UI due to needless animator overhead
  • Added Hotkeys in Editor 
    • Undo (ctrl+z) 
    • Redo (ctrl + y)
    • Zoom / Scale (+/-)

Environment

  • Several new Food Sources
  • Several food model updates
  • Visual improvement to underwater VFX
  • Significant redesign of skybox
  • Slightly increased grass fidelity

Balance

  • Befriending and courting speed temporarily increased 25% (until more mechanics are implemented to speed up the process).
  • Minor improvements to carnivore behaviors to reduce constant carnivore brutality
  • Sprint and trot speeds increased to 2x and 4x walk speed, from (1.5x & 3x)
  • Sprint stamina cost decreased 15%
  • Significantly reduced metabolism cost from size (2.5 -> 1.0)
  • Reduced Food Detection Range

Minor

  • Tool tip trigger time reduced
  • Tool tips added for Venom and Crushing abilities
  • Optimizations to sound pinging
  • Animal summary UI redesign
  • Improvements to camera transitions
  • Audio visual ping now appears when in social mode when broadcasting (genetically compatible only)

Bugs

  • (Fixed) Latency caused by dead animal buildup
  • (Fixed) Animals circling to get unreachable food
  • (Fixed) Large animals struggling to grab small items
  • (Fixed) Reach not increasing interaction height
  • (Fixed) Plants spawn as Invisible during winter
  • (Fixed) Minor Species Editor UI fixes
  • (Fixed) Bug causing reproduction display to incorrectly show fertile eggs
  • (Fixed) Unable to un-equip adaptations from loaded species
  • (Fixed) Carried food non-edible until dropped
